About Solucell®
What is Solucell®?
Solucell® is a proprietary material technology developed for advanced textile applications.
Rather than acting as a conventional textile fiber, Solucell® enables the creation of innovative yarn structures and fabric constructions designed to enhance comfort, softness, functionality, and overall textile performance across multiple product categories.
Why was Solucell® developed?
Solucell® was originally developed for the towel industry as a cleaner alternative to conventional soluble materials, PVA based, traditionally used in zero-twist production.
The goal was to improve softness and absorbency while reducing environmental impact and simplifying production processes.
Over time, the technology evolved far beyond towels, becoming a broader innovation platform for functional natural-fiber textiles — from apparel and home textiles to warp knitting and advanced yarn constructions.
Is Solucell® made from eucalyptus?
No. Solucell® is not related to eucalyptus, dissolving pulp technologies, or regenerated cellulose fibers commonly associated with companies such as Lenzing.
Solucell® is a proprietary material specifically engineered for textile innovation, featuring controlled degradability in alkaline environments and designed to support advanced yarn and fabric constructions.

Is Solucell® the same as SolucellAir®?
Not exactly.
Solucell® identifies the core innovation platform and material technology behind multiple textile developments, while SolucellAir® is one specific technology created using Solucell® to engineer hollow cotton yarn structures focused on comfort and natural performance.
Because SolucellAir® fabrics are among the most visible applications on the market, people sometimes refer to them generically as “Solucell fabrics.”
However, Solucell® technologies extend far beyond SolucellAir®, including Zero-Twist, SmartVent®, WarpKnit developments, hybrid yarn concepts, and other advanced textile applications.
Why use SolucellAir® instead of synthetic performance fabrics?
Many conventional performance fabrics rely heavily on polyester and synthetic fibers to achieve moisture management or quick-dry effects.
While technically efficient in some situations, these materials can often feel uncomfortable during long everyday use, trapping heat, retaining odors, and reducing the natural comfort consumers increasingly look for.

SolucellAirLite®, on the other hand, is designed as a more accessible and versatile solution for competitive markets where lightness, softness, finer yarn counts, and production efficiency are the primary targets.
While less focused on advanced functional performance, it remains highly effective for creating refined, comfortable, and commercially efficient textile products.

Yes, and licensing is free of charge.
Selected partners may access licensing and labeling programs using official Solucell® and SolucellAir® branding elements, including standard or customized labels and hangtags.
